Extreme Mapmaking Lag [HELP?]
Alright so as some of you know I am making an adventure map. It is planned to be a really big map with lots of area to explore and quests and stuff.
Right now I am having a really bad issue with lag. It's not FPS lag, it's like actual lag. I will have like 50 FPS and still have the game freezing and I am not able to type commands or chat or whatever. I have no idea how to fix this.
It is very possible that it is my computer, as its pretty aged and not that good for running games but it still (sort of) gets the job done.
It also cannot be:
A) Making it so command blocks don't report the outputs (the X). This is one of the biggest suggestions for this type of stuff
B) Spreading command blocks out to minimize lag. I spread a massive amount of commands out to try to reduce the lag but its still awful. Even in chunks with little to no command blocks.
Does anyone have any other suggestions/feedback? This map is hard enough as it is to get done and I don't need extra lag setting me back more. Thanks for any help! <3

What are your computer specs?
Is it only this world in particular?
Sort of. This map and my last map both had this problem.
When I start a new superflat world it's not laggy at all really. This is why I assume its an issue with too many command blocks but I'm not sure how to fix it.

What's the map size?
Usually if your game freezes here and there, it's an fps lag.
How do you describe your lag?
Is it something like when you try opening your inventory nothing happens but you can still move?
Or
Is it when you try opening your inventory nothing happens and you can't move or look around?

No, its not FPS lag. I usually get around 50 FPS on the map when this occurs.
The lag is like to the point where if I'm building the map, I can't place blocks or type anything in chat for a few seconds until it refreshes, and then afterwards it will still keep lagging. When I'm testing the map it's just all around laggy and some commands will happen a good 2-3 seconds after they are triggered. There's also one spot in the map where I can't even fire arrows it's so laggy.

Are you running it off of a server? Like either localhost or a hosting company.
