So, I have been using Minecraft for a few years, and I have used forge to install mods several times. my computer was recently re-imaged, and so Minecraft was deleted. after I re-installed it, I also tried to add forge for 1.12.2 and it wouldn't work. I download the correct installer and opened it, and it displayed the "install client" "Install server" and "Extract" button, and I selected "Install Client". I pressed OK and for a few seconds it shows a white screen with what looks like code and then just closes. it doesn't say anything, it just stops. I am using an early 2015 macbook air, and would really appreciate it if someone knew what was going on and helped me.
I tried posting this on the Forge Forums but they said that 1.12.2 is too out dated.
This is what it said in the log:
JVM info: Oracle Corporation - 1.8.0_261 - 25.261-b12
java.net.preferIPv4Stack=true
Found java version 1.8.0_261

If you do not have any potential solutions or suggestions for the OP, I would recommend not replying to the thread. Saying "I don't know" doesn't help the poster at all.
Have you installed and ran the vanilla version of 1.12.2 at least once before?
I hadn't, but I just did and tried again and it still didn't work. 😟
here are possible solutions;
-try uninstalling your current java, and reinstalling the newest verion.
-install forge using java; right click > open with > java (TM)
if the problem still persists, please lmk!

I uninstalled Java and installed the newest version, and the log was way longer but still didn't work.
did you do the second solution? if so, you can also try running jarfix.
here's a quick tutorial on how to.

when I right clicked on forge, java didn't come up as an application I could open it with. I can't use Jarfix because it's for Windows, and I only have a mac and couldn't find any other downloads for it.
you need to install the latest version of java, which can be found here, before doing the 2nd solution
I downloaded that and tried again, but it still didn't work.
