Fps dropping

hi all.
ive had a problem on the new java updates, when I look down my fps drops straight down to like 3 istg im not lying. but yh anyway ive tried everything in the video settings. this never used to be a problem in the older updates like 1.15 or even the start of 1.16. I play on an iMac for anyone wondering. if anyone could tell me how to fix this that'd be great thanks!

hmmmm. Maybe you need to upgrade your computer? like replace the drive or something. or you can download optifine.
Optifine should work, although iMacs won't really run Minecraft well. Try getting a newer PC or lower the dynamic lighting, etc.
imacs from 1999 cant run minecraft, try a newer version from 2002 or maybe 2004

So when you look down to an opaque ground it drops to 3fps? Thats not usually how fps lag works.
Anyways, what are your PC specs? because as the version for minecraft increase, the content in the game increases, which would require more processing power because the developers dont want to optimise the game
