I have windows btw.

EDIT: My specs are:
Intel(R) Core (TM2) Duo CPU
E4600 @ 2.40GHz 2.40 GHz
It's also a 32-bit Operating System if that's what you need too.

A duo core CPU, most people use Quad cores now :/ and how much ram do you have?
People that have newer computers/hardware will have quad+ cores. Also, most people do not have quad cores. And ram won't matter. Minecraft will never use over 512mb's of ram.
OP, what is your gpu? I'm assuming integrated.
Ram matters for 64 bit pc's, which most gamers have, so you can give mc more or less ram, it can use over 512mb if you're playing with mods or huge redstone maps.

Well sir you are lying about the part with 270 mods and 600-800 fps xD
^^
I would make sure you are not running any unnecessary programs in the background. Also, I believe MC runs faster in window mode.

Try enabling VBOs, you may find this helps to increase your performance. For me, I've gained FPS with the 1.8 update.

Helped a bit, thanks.
could you tell us your settings?
and if possible, your specs so we can make sure it's not your hardware.

How do I see my Graphics Card? xD
Please tell us your Specs, settings, etc
What are your specs?
Also low fps and lag are not caused by the same thing
^agreed, it depends on quite a few things, and can be server side or client side.
...idk how to fix it..
1.8 had an fps drop. Live with it.
I got a significant FPS boost with 1.8. For instance, in areas where I got 300 FPS, I now get about 400 to 500.
