1.11.2 PC freezing after minimised

Ever since the 1.11.2 update I've been getting the game freezing after being minimised then restored. I did not get this on previous versions, cannot return to older versions as the server I'm on uses the latest.
To clarify it goes as follows:
Open Minecraft and play
Later minimise so running in background (multiplayer)
Restore Minecraft window
1/5 of the window title bar (top left) show only (still have audio)
Click anywhere and the Minecraft window shows fully but blank white and Windows Not Responding alert
Wait a minute and the game restores (most of the time) or crashes

System specs:
Windows 10 64-bit (windows 8.1 upgrade)
Intel i5-4210U CPU @ 1.70GHz 2.40 GHz
RAM: 8GB (7.89 GB usable)
NVIDIA GeForce GT 820M
If it does crash I don't get any particular reports besides the chat in the game prior to crashing.
Java: 1.8.0_25 64bit
In game fps: 59/60
