Giant chunk errors

Hello!
Every time I make a new Minecraft world, these giant holes appear in the ground. They are the size of a chunk, so I assume that is what they are.
It isn't a loading glitch, when you appear to be falling through the ground. No, these holes you can actually go into. They go all the way to bedrock.
I have tried restarting Minecraft, restarting my world, and all of that, but those holes are still there! D:
Please help! I cannot continue to play singleplayer Minecraft at this rate.
