Windows is the problem. Use System Restore (hate it btw), restore to before the update happened.

Delete the entire minecraft folder. Save your "saves" file first, we don't want any of your worlds to be deleted. Then start mc back up, it should be completely new now, and maybe you have to log in. Login and start the game up. Tell me what happens from there.

Try backing up your saves and delete your entire '.minecraft' folder. Then re-install to game by loading up the newest update (1.8).
hmmm try a new profile[not account, in the lower left hit new profile and try that]
