Hello everyone! I recently found out that there's a new Java update (Java 8) but it needs Windows 7 or 8 (Not sure which). I have Windows XP . Minecraft wants me to download it, or the game might be slow (and the servers lag, as I found out yesterday.). The alternative is to download "Minecraft Runtime Environment" but I have no idea where to get it.

Hey man, first things first did you check on Java's official website that there was an update or did just pop up on the window? Because I had received a notification about something like that awhile back. When I went to download it, it gave me all these useless stuff and a virus. I know it sounds ridiculous but you can't be too careful, I've already been getting pop ups lately about updating something and that it was supported by Google Chrome... Nope! Be sure to check the URL of the page, if it's not Java or any official companies, it's not real. Just ignore it. Other than that if it is real and it requires Windows 7 or 8 you may have to update your computer to said programs. Good Luck! I hope this helped!
