Summary
For others who get this issue
Download and install JRE 8 for OS X First thing to try is re-installing java. Assuming Windows operating system, is a re-install of java 8, which should hopefully set up the correct path in Windows for where the installation is.
You can download the latest java 8 from here :
https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
I wouldn't update to Java 14 (even if you can find the download link), because many of Minecraft mods are compiled against java 8, so they likely wouldn't work, or might give issues using such a high version.
The file that Minecraft should be using is at location :
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Oracle\Java\javapath_target_2733598062\javaw.exe
If that file doesn't exist, then there is something amiss with your current java installation.
Unable to locate the Java runtime.
Error details: Undefined error: 0
Filename on disk: java
Path: /Users/Charles/Library/Application
Support/minecraft/runtime/jre-
x64/jre.bundle/Contents/Home/bin/java
Exists: Nonexistent
Have you tried skimming the .bin files from the Java application program files for corruption, or deletion by accident?
Have you tried updating Java to the latest version (Java 14)?
Have you tried seeing where you got your original copy of Java from? (DO NOT use unverified mirrors to download Java)
If none of these were the issue, could you please check the architecture of your system to see if the program broke because of the wrong architecture defined?
