Help for a Growing Server?

Hello everyone!

So my Staff and I are having trouble with gaining players. Our player base usually consists of friends, or people from old servers. We really need help on gaining more players, plus we started out in September.

We have Factions, PvP, Minigames such as Hungergames, TetrisAttack, Capture the Flag, and more! Most of these are customized, so a new experience for everyone.

All these things have mostly custom things, such as maps, terrain, games, plugins, and more.

The staff and I are the main people who put the server everywhere along with the Co-Owner, and managed to place it on every single website and forum there is. We bump our PMC Server page every 24 hours on peak times. We have YouTubers who make videos for us, we have pictures, and more.

Yet, we lack players. Anyone have any suggestions?

Also, here are the links to our Website, and PMC pages.
http://galaxynetworksmc.com/home - Website
http://www.planetminecraft.com/project/ ... ork-spawn/ - PMC Link
http://www.planetminecraft.com/server/galaxy-networks/ - PMC Link

Thank you for your help!!!

It seems like you have a nice server, but the problem is that there are so many other servers out there, there aren't enough players to fill them. Most people flock to larger servers, so your player base may grow exponentially given time.

Eco212Don't be desperate is my tip. I would advise removing that ad from your sig, it basically gives the signal "Hmph, that's just petty.".

Thanks, but I would think many people become desperate after 4 months of being done with everything, and slowly gaining players. But as I also say, and famously quoted by others, Success goes to those who aren't busy eyeing for it.

And the Sig is a helpful tip, thanks.

Why a better name? That doesn't really affect much of it. Sounds pretty unique, nothing much to it, or any other server names.

When you say that you lack players...
About how many players are on during your average and busy times in the day?

Busy Times/School/Etc: 0-3
Peaks/Weekends: 1-13

Only a couple times have we gotten to 14-18. Never above 20.

That's really not a bad number though. For our server, anyway, our busiest times consist of about 15-20, and we're content with that. If you are looking for more members, though, I'm not quite sure. You could try to ask your current member base what sort of changes that they would like to see. We've had plenty of people join after a bump in the PMC post, and not stick around. It'd be good to figure out why people may not become regular members, if that's part of the problem.

We solved most of it, and were developing more custom games, etc. I guess were happy with it, but we expected more with the amount that were doing, but I value what We earned. Thanks

Patience patience patience. Only way to make it go faster is to pay for featured banners.

We dont need to pay, we made one ourselves for free, and it is like the paid version, but , haha free.

I think he means the featured banners on sites like on Minestatus. You pay to have your server featured at or near the top of either the home page or every page, and prices for that are really steep.

Hm, well I wouldnt do that since, first we dont have many members, which follows by little or no donations. So, we that option isnt available for us.

It's a bad idea to buy those anyway, since you usually spend more money than you rake in from donations.

Exactly. No need to waste that won't profit in return, and you become in debt.

Do you have any donation packages, or perks? Generally people are more inclined to donate if they will get something out of it- sad, but true. I would suggest setting up "packages" for as little as five dollars and go up from there, giving people additional access to commands that not everybody else gets. That is, if you haven't already!

Yes, we do offer ranks with several fair, unabusable perms.

There are some that are cheap, and some that are expensive, but depends on the perms.

I know for a fact that players don't like servers that have too much. I hate servers that throw a gigantic spawn at me and give me 100 different paths and lobbies and places to go. It's confusing, and although you're used to it, new players won't know where to go to do what they joined the server for. Also, you don't want too many players to join. I've stopped bumping my server at peak times because 20+ people would join and overload the server. Then everyone lags out and they all leave. It's a waste of a bump and pisses off your playerbase.

People like being rewarded for being loyal. Offer them perks or stuff for being on for x number of hours. For instance, my server has a ranking system that grants them a new kit every so many hours. It get's people to stay.

I looked at your PMC page, and you're doing really well. 29 diamonds is no easy feat. While your playerbase may be small, you're doing something right to get them to love it that much. Kudos to you.

First of all, wow! Thank you!

We don't have a huge spawn, although its averagely sized, and we have 4 paths to four areas: Factions, Hungergames, Capture The Flag, and Shop.

We also have the Member+ System, people go on our website and follow the newfeed directions, we check, and they earn the rank with a new kit. As for kits, we have 3 default kits, and one Holiday Kit.

Well, we may stop bumping from time to time, but we don't as much because our player base is as I said, 0-6 on weekdays (sometimes more), and weekends 3-15.

Thank you again, overall, I think we are doing well, but not super, because the playerbase results in everything. But thank you for your feedback, comments and help!

If you have too many servers, players will be diffused across the network, creating a lonely experience to your players. This is fixable by having a large server, but as we can see, you are still trying to achieve this. Try having 1 server with some game modes, then expand later on.

How am I trying to achieve this?

Factions, Hungergames, Capture the Flag, and Shop are all in one server. We don't have several servers... o-o I think you are mistaken.

Eco212Minestatus banners never work. I've never clicked on a server from there.

Neither have I, but doesn't hurt to have it.
