HELP NEEDED FOR BUKKIT SERVER
Hello. I'm trying to set up a server with CraftBukkit 1.2.4, and I'm having problems.
My external IP is xx.xxx.xx.xxx and when I put that into my server.properties under server-ip= and I start my CraftBukkit server, it says:
[INFO] Starting minecraft server version 1.2.4
[INFO] Loading properties
[INFO] Starting Minecraft server on xx.xxx.xx.xxx:25565
[WARNING] **** FAILED TO BIND TO PORT!
[WARNING] The exception was: java.net.BindException: Cannot assign requested address: JVM_Bind
[WARNING] Perhaps a server is already running on that port?
Now I know what you're going to say. You're going to say "take away your server IP from the properties". I'VE TRIED THAT. I honestly don't know how people are going to connect to my server without any IP. I'VE BEEN GOOGLING ALL DAY, SO DON'T TELL ME TO GOOGLE IT. I'M ALSO TRYING TO UPLOAD MY SERVER TO PLANET MINECRAFT BUT IT WON'T WORK. My router model is a D-Link DWA-130 and it is not listed anywhere in portforward websites.
I DON'T KNOW HOW TO PORTFORWARD EITHER. Here is a screenshot showing my portforward screen. SHOW ME HOW.

Well, if you want people to connect to your server, you might have a private server. Meaning only people on your wifi can connect to it. This usually occurs when you have important files on your wifi and don't want people to hack into it. You might have to port forward or use hamachi to get around the privateness.

thing is if you dont know how then look up on youtube and they have tutorials bout port-forwarding

Yes. It's done now, but now how do I get people to connect to my server?
if port forwarded you port then you dont need a ip in the ip section of server properties
oh also if your running windows open command prompt and type in ip config you will want the ipv4 address this will be the ip you will port foward on and the one that runs the minecraft server put 25565 in the end port and the ipv4 address in the end ip address thing and that should be how you do it

By the way Your LAN IP changes every time you restart your router so you will have to change it on the portforward page every time you do.
