So, I got a new computer with Windows 8. Yeah, I know, the bad drivers thing seems to be a problem. But that isn't happening for me. I need some help.

When I run MC, the icon at the bottom taskbar isn't the minecraft logo, it is java. Same thing on the actual launcher. Also, the log in area is all black except for the boxes saying Username and Password. When I log in, it says Can't connect to minecraft.net. I want to play SinglePlayer anyway, but I cant even lay offline. It just goes to a black screen. No bad driver stuff. Help please! The W8 may not even be an issue, but I think it screwed something up.

I just want to play Minecraft

Yeah, I don't think that Windows 8 is the problem. By description it seems like a combination of faulty downloading and internet connection problems. The fact that it seems like an internet problem to me may be because not every thing is there. Just go in the minecraft folder and make sure every thing is there. You may need to delete the whole minecraft folder. (you probably know this but this is how you get to the appdata in windows, here's the link: http://windows8themes.org/how-to-view-a ... ows-8.html )

Did what you said, now it says Minecraft not downloaded over the Offline button. When I play in browser, it gets stuck at done loading. I think the java thing is doing something. I know that something is screwing with it.

EDIT: The Not dwnloaded thing is gone, but browser still stuck

-Delete bin folder in your .minecraft.
-Restart computer.
-Try to log in again.
If that doesn't work, try getting a Windows 7 PC.

Although, I never used a Windows 8.Minecraft would probably work after you do what I said before "If that doesn't work".

You could also try searching on Mojang.com, sending a message to Notch or Jeb, or another Mojang member, or delete your whole Minecraft folder.Logging in again should create a new .minecraft folder, unless you fail to log in.

Also: When did this start happening, anyway?

EDIT: And you should try logging in at minecraft.net too, then play in the browser, unless you have mods installed.Although, the mods could be the problem, if you do have any installed.
