Help! Server Issues
Hi Planet Minecraft!
I am having issues. I want to create a server on minecraft, java edition, but I do not know how. I have checked out several YouTube videos and articles explaining how, but I cannot get any of them to work. I was wondering if anybody has experience with making servers and would like to communicate more in-depth with me on . . . discord? If anybody is available, that would be wonderful! I currently have java edition 15.2.2 on a mac and would appreciate it if anybody is willing to help!
Love from,
WarHammer3

the problem you might be having could be either compatibility with mac or that your ports are not forwarded so the outside world cant connect to you IP default port is 25565 rcon port is usually 25575
this is something you would have to do inside your router
but i do not recommend hosting o home computer you should use a minecraft server host
something like
https://shockbyte.com/billing/aff.php?aff=1495
for starter server at least and it is super easy to setup.
here is a article on portforwarding for you if you have to host on home pc
https://portforward.com/minecraft/
just remember if some kids ddos you its going to effect you connection speed and maybe even upset your ISP

how many gigabytes of ram do you have on your pc? if its less then 8 you might be running into problems.also if you're gonna play with 4 friends or less you can use hamachi which is easy to do,but it only supports up to 5 players total (including yourself),if you want to play with more you'd need to pay for it and well...if you can pay, might as well buy a realm.
For a server, you'll need something WAYYYYY more powerful than a Mac. Let's say the power of at least 3 Windows servers all running JRE to handle all of the players joining.
For the server's software, I recommend Minecraft's Native Server Software
Use the Java Server software to set up commands, and basically manage the entire server.
Some commands are listed here.
