I see other servers do it all the time. I'll use subdomain.domain.net instead of my server's address. When posting to PlanetMinecraft servers, how do I input it in the "IP Address / Hostname" field? When I just input subdomain.domain.net, I get an error saying "Invalid server address or port."
How do I get around this, when my domain doesn't have a port? Thanks!

Was your server online when you were attempting to register with PMC? Did you have the special code in the MOTD like they specified? If not, set those up before attempting to register on PMC.
If the data is actually correct, that means that this host might be offline, or DNS lookup failed. This is called DNS propagation. This process might take from 1 hour up to 24. It is normal that it doesn't work if you just recently set that up. When the process is completed, and, the data is actually correct, it should successfully connect!

No, it's definitely working, I've had it for a couple of weeks with a lot of players joining.
In that situation I might just quote that, not to write that again:
But in that case 'You', is 'PMC'. I might be wrong, because the deep mechanism of the Internet aren't 100% understood by me. This problem might disappear with time, since the route is calculated as the packets are sent, not permanently.
I hope I helped,

Then, when the packet form your machine is send, it goes through various 'checkpoints'. It might travel all around the world before it reaches the destination. Now the problem is, that IP/packets are terminated(blocked) on one of the checkpoints. Honestly, I have no idea how to fix that besides contacting your internet provider.
