Help when joining a server.

Forge and Optifine work perfectly together with shaders. You have to get the right Optifine.
Are you using Forge and Optifine (at the same time) by any chance? Because that could cause trouble.
Then the issue is with forge.

Server's up according to the website. And I tried restarting my comp, not working. But I tried without forge and it worked.
Try restarting your PC. If that doesn't work maybe the server is down.
