Help with something please
Hi! This has probably been asked before, a million times over, but... yes I am trying to start a server. Whats wrong is, its not starting up. I'm using the .jar version of mojang's server program. I can start the program (the .jar. I can see all the logs and everything), but I cant join. whenever I try, it says:
java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: no further information:
I am running the latest version of java, and I have the server's IP right. Does anyone know what is going on, and how to fix it? Thanks.

Any reasons why this is happening? Or am I one of these people who just will never be able to have a server?

I haven't yet. Do I need to portforward before I can connect?
Also, I've looked through the logs, and the only thing that stands out is the message: [Server console handler/ERROR]: Exception handling console input

Is this because I haven't port forwarded?

did you portfoward the server ip?
