How to get rid of this LAG?

Hello everyone I gots a little problem... My MC singleplayer is extremely laggy. Most of the time I just get FRAMES PER SECOND, which is very frustrating.... I have no mods, or texture packs loaded in. No servers either. I turned down all sounds, and turned off mobs. I went back to Steve skin if that helps at all.... I barely have anytime on singleplayer at all when I don't at least get lag spikes. Anyone have any advice? Am I doing something wrong?

Brightness: All the way down
Clouds : Off
Render Distance : Short
Particles : Minimal
that always clears lag for me

Everyone gets frames per second... We need to know how much FPS you're getting.
If it's 60+ then you're fine.
Also, sounds + Steve skin change don't help.
