How do i setup a new server?

I use a mac and i succesfully setup a vanilla server but then i wanted to get a bukkit server so i switched but said that something was already using the port so how do i get a server to run now?

Open up Activity monitor. (It comes preinstalled with macs). Locate java under the list. Quit the java process in it and as a server is currently running on your computer. Once doing this you can easily start the bukkit server
