Hello Daryl, I tested this map out for you today. I presume we are talking about this map here :
https://www.planetminecraft.com/project/alice-in-wonderland---newheaven/
This map was made to work with Minecraft version 1.12.2, and that is the version you should be using to run it. If you use another version, there are certain functions that may not work.
The problem you are having with the 'Click me to enter' and nothing happens, I believe is to do with the fact that this was made on a server and was probably using a signs plugin so that you clicked on a sign and were transported to where you needed to go. In order to get round this problem, I have made some minor alterations to the map. These alterations are invisible to anyone using the map and are just to make the teleports to the various scenes work in single player. All you need to do now is walk up to any of the 5 blocks that transport you to the scenes and press the button on the top and you'll be transported.
Apart from Scene 3, 'Tea Party', all the other scenes, when you are transported, you will be next to another block with a button on, you may have to spin round a little to see it, but its there, this block will return you to your starting point when you press the button on top.
On the 'Tea Party', you will spawn ontop of a tall structure, and because of the view, I left it like this (it's where you would have originally teleported to anyway had the map been working properly for single player). Whilst on the top of this structure, if you spin round looking at the ground around you, you will see the block with the button far below you which I've highlighted with a glowstone block next to it so that it's easier to spot.
The game mode is now survival and inventory cheats are off, but that's easy enough to change. I left it like this because in Creative, you could end up causing a fair amount of unintentional damage, and Adventure mode is look only (which you may or may not want).
Here is a link to the working version of the map for single (and Multi) player - it uses no mods, just vanilla minecraft 1.12.2:

Thanks for the information, keep sharing this type of info
Dary, it depends on which gamemode you are. If you're on creative, you need to hold a sword. But, you can also follow UncleBase's advice.
Hi Daryl
It sounds like it might be an adventure map that's in the wrong game mode. Type "/gamemode adventure" and see if that's works.

This is the best possible reason
