First download Optifine

https://optifine.net/downloads

If you are running Minecraft 1.16.5, download the OptiFine HD U G8.

If not, click on Show all versions and select whatever version you are running.

Then make a search for Minecraft shaders.

Example:

Most are free ... NOT ALL ARE FREE.

From there, it is up to what you like or better runs on your pc.

If you are using a Windows pc, hit Windows + R, then type %appdata% and hit Enter.
Double-click on .minecraft, then double-click on shaderpacks. Here is where the downloaded shader must go, you can have as many shaders as you like in this folder. Now, when you start Minecraft click on Options... , then Video Settings... , then Shaders... , select your preferred shader (it may take a few seconds to load, depending on you pc's performance), finally click done and select your world. You can switch shaders while inside the world you are running.

There are also many ways to tweak those shaders. My recommendation ... Read and learn from your mistakes. If you change any setting on those shaders and can't remember where it was, just go to Shader options... and hit Reset.

If you already tried that, then the issue might be an outdated Java.

Go to: https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

Hope it helps
