How do you install forge? HELP

I installed forge the normal way on Minecraft 1.6.1 and all the files are in the jar (modded jar) so it can be moddable. However ll the mods are working like rei minim map except Minecraft forge. Its installed but just not showing up. I dont want to use the installer through.
Has anyone figured out anything? Have they changed the manual installation method?. When minecraft starts the box isn't there and when im on the main menu its not displayed on the bottom left.

I believe you cannot Mod Minecraft until later on. Since this is a new client and not fully setup. However you can still use the old client and Mod that.
