How do you keep your server in control?

Lately i've finally gotten to publicly hosting my server, and the amount of people (good and bad) is crazy, especially the bad. Any advice on keeping it under control with large crowds of players coming in?

what you do is have people act as administrators for you, i would be willing to volunteer i am experienced with commands and good at calming people and can come on often, having other people help can really lighten the workload
