Hello, I recently got a new computer and wanted to install optifine so I could get shaders in Minecraft, but when I try to open the download my computer says it doesn't recognize the file type. I read that the java compiler is suppose to open with it, but I don't think my computer has that. If there is something I'm missing like a simple download a program, or a file I would greatly appreciate some help.
Thank You.

I believe that you just need to download Java, a simple google search should give you the right link to get it.
If that doesn't work then there's a program called Jarfix, this will make your computer recognize the file type and it'll be able to run any .jar file.

Hi Renaldo,

Sorry, the Microsoft Edition is the new PC name for Bedrock, so it has most of the restrictions of the console versions. Optifine is a Java Edition plugin. If you have a Geforce RTX card in your computer, you can turn on raytracing to get even better lighting than Optifine can produce, which makes it look like a different game.

To install Optifine you have to go to the download site. Then open the Optifine Installer and install it. It should then appear in the MC launcher.

Yes, you'll need to install Java to be able to run the installer.

For reference, you can check out my quick guide (4min video) to installing Optifine and check whether you've done everything correctly: www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVRxJVZsgFw
