Installing shaders help!

I have been trying to install the shaders mod by following instructions I found on a blog.
However, whenever I try and install it, minecraft just quits. Here is the process I have been using. // denotes a comment.

Go to minecraft folder in Application support //I'm on a mac.
Go to bin folder
Right click minecraft.jar, rename it to a zip, and open the zip, creating a minecraft folder //it's a mac thing
Rename the minecraft folder to minecraft.jar
Go into the minecraft folder and delete META-INF
Copy the Optifine files into the minecraft.jar folder //I hit "replace all"
Copy the shaders mod files into the jar //also hitting "replace all"
Copy the shader zip files into the shaders folder
Start minecraft //doesn't work.
Please help!
