Java (TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working
Hiya everyone! i appreciate you coming to view this
So, here is what happens:
I open up my minecraft.exe
i click login, and i am taken to the white "Mojang screen"
After a few seconds, a pop up comes up saying "Java (TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working"
The pop up then says "Windows is checking for a solution to the problem"
After a while, it says "Windows will notify you if a solution is available"
It then prompts me to close the program. I do so and minecraft crashes
How can i get Java (TM) Platform SE binary to work?
other details:
the only mod i have installed is optifine 1.5
when using minecraft magic launcher, the same error message appears
*******I would appreciate it if you only respond if you have an answer. I understand that many other people have this same issue, and would appreciate it if you dont post something saying "i have this same issue too"

Start from square 1, force update minecraft and make sure it works.
tried that, but it does the same thing once it goes to the mojang screen

ive tried that. when i force update, it downloads the packages, then goes to the mojang screen, and does the same thing
Well this is nothing to do with the mods, we know that much.
What version of Java do you have installed?

i have Java update 17 (64-bit)
Post basic specs and more information:
Did it work before? If so when did it break etc.

it worked two days ago and then yesterday BOOM! it just stopped working
as for specs, all i know is i have a 64-bit java installed

Go re-download Java from Oracle and re-install. If you have any Java error reports available to you, those would be helpful in solving your problem as well.
I got this on the forums:
Do Alt Ctrl and Delete
Then click "Task Manager"
Then (If You are using Windows 8) you might find "Java(TM) SE Platform" click it and Then "End Task"

This also happened to me, but every time I load up a server, it says that java se binary has stopped working. Tried everything, updating, removing, rebooting. I have windows 8
Make sure you have the correct Java for your CPU and OS architecture. If you have 32 bit windows, get java 32 bit and the same for 64.
