(problem fixed) Java(TM) Patform SE Binary is background process??
So I have minecraft and tried to run it but Java(TM) Platform SE Binary runs as a background process for some reason and i can't play minecraft because there is no window. Can somebody help me please?
IMPORTANT: I had optifine installed when I uninstalled minecraft a while and ago this time I re-installed it so could the fact I had optifine installed have something to do with it?

Java being a background process has nothing to do with the inability to run Minecraft. Because Minecraft uses Java to work (the Java edition anyway).
What version are you trying to run? Also: can you run a non-modded version (so without Optifine)? And what are the specs of your PC?

If you are using Minecraft, the PC version (not Bedrock), then Minecraft needs java to be able to run, therefore you will always see java running as a background process. It might be worth checking if you are on the latest version of Java 8 - found here : https://www.java.com/en/download/
As for optifine, it depends on if you are using vanilla or modded minecraft - some mods don't play well with optifine. Either way, its a good idea to un-install it and try without to see how far you get.
Also, if you are still having problems, some sort of log file or crash report would be nice.
Logfiles are in ..\.minecraft\logs
Crash Reports are in ..\.minecraft\crash-reports
If you don't have a 'crash-reports' directory, don't worry, it just means Minecraft is under the impression that its never crashed. But you WILL have a log file 'latest.log'

Might be something amiss with the Vanilla launcher install ........
If you are willing to try a different launcher, you could try MultiMC, which you can get from here : https://multimc.org/
It's a trusted launcher and very fast to set up. Good for modding as well. All you do is install MultiMC, toward the top right, add a minecraft user, then right-click on the window, choose 'new instalnce' and choose the version of Minecraft you wish to install from the list that appears. After that, its just a case of launching the instance yo've just made ....... takes less than a couple of mins to set up.

The old world saves you have will be in the saves folder under the vanilla launcher folder, likely to be :
C:\Users\*yourusername*\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves
You can copy any folder from that old location to the saves folder under your MultiMC instance saves folder, which will be something like :
..\MultiMC\instances\*Mynewinstance*\.minecraft\saves
... this will allow you to play your old worlds under your MultiMC instances ........

For extra clarification. Minecraft PC is made from the programming language Java, hence why it is also know as the Java Edition.
Bedrock is made by a different programming language.
