I recently updated my java to its most recent version v8 update 45. But now my minecraft lags really bad, even on flatworlds or worlds with nothing in them but 1 floating island. My question here is, should i downgrade to my previous version of java or should i keep this version and wait for a new one to come around? I'd like to play games with my friends again, but my Minecraft fps drop down to 0-1...which, to pretty much everyone playing minecraft, is a huge problem being how you cannot play the game correctly without having major lag spikes the entire time...

Anyways, if anybody can help me figure this out, please be my guest and help out in any ways you can think of

Thx everyone! The issue has been fixed, i just kept Java 8 Update 45 and also downloaded Java 8 Update 31. I just switch between whichever is needed atm and they work, minecraft runs smoother now (around 21-25fps instead of 3-8fps). thx all

Vanilla minecraft (1.8+) is generally better with Java 8 as far as I know, for modded I would recommend java 7 just because most mods are for 1.7.10 or lower and have never been optimized for Java 8 (Not an expert, just logical thinking. I might be very wrong)

And why is that so? I use Java 8 and no lag problems here.

I'd check to make sure your JVM settings haven't changed; Java 8 is theoretically a performance upgrade in some cases, so this seems weird. Worst come to worst, downgrading Java is always an option.
