My minecraft runs at about 10 fps on multiplayer. I am usng OptiFine, GameBooster, AVG PC TuneUp, a cooling fan, various PC cleaners, defrag, and cleaning disc. I still run at a low framerate. All programs closed, and with 4GB of RAM on Minecraft. Windows Experience Index Rating for Gaming Graphics: 3.9 How do I get a better framerate??? I was thinking on getting a new PC but my budget is $500 or less. Windows 7 or 8.

Get a toshiba. My old one could run 60+ FPS for under 450 bucks

What are the settings? Here are some things that may help:

1. Set fps to about 30, max fps creates an absurd amount of lag.
2. Set render distance to 10 chunks
3. Make sure no shaders are enabled(if you hit f3 and look around, if there is something that says "shader", you need to hit the "Super Secret Settings" button until no shader is shown.
4. Set Graphics to "fast"
5. Check how much ram is allocated. Don't go all out, and try 2 GB instead of 4, as that should be more than enough.
6. If you have Optifine Ultra, go set clouds, grass, trees, etc. to "FAST", turn down particles to "Decreased", enable "Dynamic Updates"
7. Walk around the map and try to load a lot of it.
8. What is your processor speed?(mHz? GHz?)

Try without optifine with the settings:
Graphics: fast
Smooth Lighting: Max
Particles: Min
Render Distance: Between 5-9 chunks
Framerate: unlimited
Clouds: off

Gets me up to 200 fps with a lower end graphics card.

Buy an additional 4GB ram card (if you can get two in your computer) or just get an 8GB ram card to replace you 4GB card.

Please don't. Minecraft really can't realistically make use of over 4GB of memory (not to mention that the problem isn't the memory anyways.)

lucario378Settings I play with:(the FPS gets around 10-30 when playing Minigames on various servers). MAX FPS

Switch this down to 30 or so, should help.

In any case, what kind of graphics card are we talking about? The window's rating seemed low, and I'd rather get a good idea of what kind of card we're dealing with; chances are the integrated memory into the card is low, though all of that is speculation until we get specs.

Minecraft doesn't need an additional 4GB to run smoothly. The problem is obviously somewhere else. Please think before you post.

We need your computer specs, without it we can't help you.

Also more ram, does not make it faster, it never uses over half a gig of ram. Only time it uses more is when you use modpacks.

I suggest you get a custom build PC, there alot cheaper and are better setup for what you like. i suggest you upgrade your GPU (graphics card) and CPU those probably are the main reason youre so low on FPS

Also, having 100% of your RAM dedicated to one program is a bad idea and actually make it worse, its best to use 75% of the RAM you have available for your games and the other 25% for other things like background processes or programs.

Go here, and try it all. http://www.planetminecraft.com/blog/how ... craft-fps/

Also, NEVER give all of your RAM. That will LOWER your FPS significantly.
