Recently, like many people, I have experiencing serious FPS lag after 1.5.1. I am only getting 15 FPS when I turn, which makes it look like I'm watching a stop motion movie made by a five year old (really slow and bumpy) I have tried multiple solutions in the past, and they all failed. Optifine, setting a High priority for Javaw.exe, toggling all the options in the video settings menu, etc. didn't work at all. What is really strange, is that earlier today my minecraft was at 50fps! I was excited and thought "my computer must have fixed it on it's own or something along those lines!" and proceeded to play. A few minutes ago I was going through my worlds, to see which ones could be deleted, when I clicked on an old world I don't play anymore to be deleted. Instead of the option of deleting the world popped up, I spawned into the game, which was a natural glitch for me. Right when I spawned, the game hit a serious lag spike that made the game crash, which I am guessing it did so because I spawned high up in the air. (I was making a B-17 bomber.) I thought, "That was a little odd.. oh well." And I launched Minecraft again. I deleted the world and then decided to play on another world, to see if everything was alright with the game. That is when I raged at my computer, something I have only done about three times before. The FPS was back at 15. I tried quitting the game and re-launching it, playing other worlds, etc., but nothing worked. And now I'm here, looking for help. Is there any way I can fix it now, or do I have to wait until an update which increases FPS?

You think 15 fps is bad on my really old dell I get 1 fps no matter what even if the game says 60 im getting 1
It can be a game glitch.
Try allocating more RAM to the client to do this:
click to edit your profile at the minecraft launcher and check the option JVM arguments,
in the text field add this(without quotations):
"-Xmx1025M -Xms1024M"
the 1025 number is the maximum amount of memory(RAM) minecraft wil use the 1024 number is the minimu mamount of memory minecraft will use,
and if that doesnt work add
"-Xincgc" at the textfield with the arguments mentioned above, this will increase the amount of garbage collection slowing the game a bit, but clearing RAM fast enough so the game can use it again.

You might need a better Graphics card.

My two solutions are: A. Get a new computer, or B. Clear out some big files. If you have too many files, then you will be laggy as heck. I have had 2 labtops, 1 of them EXTREMELY laggy itself, and the 2nd a good one, but I put too many programs on it, I hope this helped.
I deleted all the files and programs I didn't need, but nothing happened. Thank you for your help though, I might have to ask for a Windows 7 computer for Christmas or my birthday if nothing works between now and then.
Yeah, I now have a computer... Not a laptop, I added a few things on to it, and now it runs fast, Like, I can run youtube and MC at the same time.
Well, for me I have to restart my computer.
