Lagging in my modpack

Minecraft keeps lagging excessively. I checked the output log and it overflowed with yellow "Can't keep up! is the server overloaded?" but this singeplayer, not server. i tried allocating high amounts of RAM and adjusting settings, but no avail. (Note: i am posting here because on other forums, i got no response)

sounds like a CPU/chunk generation/chunk loading issue, more often than not that happens because the CPU is not strong enough or fast enough to keep Minecraft running at full speed in a modded scenario
