LAN Connection Not Working?

Hello all...

I'm looking for some help, my wife has been playing Minecraft for quite some time, and she's finally got me into it.

After creating my first World and setting out to explore, she wanted to join me.

But she can't connect to my world.

When I hit ESC, and click on "Open to LAN" its all fine, and it gives me the Port Number.

She loads up her Minecraft and goes into Multiplayer, and waits for it to scan for local LAN Games, but it doesn't show any. So she attempts to Direct Connect to my IP and Port Number....

But it gives her the following error:

"Failed to connect to the server. Connection timed out; no further information"

Now here's the catch.

When SHE loads up HER game, and starts one of HER worlds... and opens it to LAN.

I can connect to her!

So why can't she connect to me?

We're using the same version of Java, we're both using Windows 10; we've gone into Windows Firewall and allowed Minecraft through... both our PC's have their Network settings configured to have network discovery turned on, and we're definitely on the same network... she can view my shared folders though the network, etc.

For all appearances, both our PC's have identical network settings, I've even gone and turned OFF my firewall, to see if that would make a difference, but it doesn't!

So, can someone help me figure this out? I'm sure there's some simple setting somewhere, that I must be overlooking...

OMG, I just figured it out...

It wasn't Windows Firewall, that was blocking her....

It was Windows Defender!

Apparently they're two separate firewalls in Windows 10, and while we had Minecraft unblocked within Windows Firewall, it was not unblocked within Windows Defender.

Soon as I unblocked it within Defender, she was able to immediately Direct Connect!
