Launcher does NOT open, cannot play minecraft AT ALL
it was working fine earlier today in the morning. i tried to get onto minecraft again during the evening and the launcher gives an icon in my taskbar, but does not actually open: http://prntscr.com/g65y65
i've deleted my .minecraft folder or whatever and reinstalled TWICE. and it's still not working. i've tried to run the shortcut as administrator, tried to open the actual launcher in the explorer and not the shortcut, try to run the actual launcher in the explorer as administrator, everything. it's still broken.
please help, i am having minecraft withdrawls.
i'm running win10 if that matters, and the version i last ran successfully was 1.11.2

try an alternate launcher, a quick google search will bring up some, personally i would recomend multiMC, do a google search for that

The minecraft launcher itself is in C:\Program Files (x86)\Minecraft or C:\Program Files\Minecraft
Try backing up that folder, deleting it, and reinstalling the launcher from the minecraft website, not the .minecraft folder. Because I think you're saying that your launcher isn't opening, not that the launcher opens but you can't launch the game from the launcher.

i've reinstalled twice from the official website and it didn't change anything.

I know it is a simple question but did you try to restart your computer? If Minecraft is installed properly, I think the issue is the windows taskbar, not Minecraft.

yes i've restarted multiple times, forgot to mention that. and no i didn't make any changes, didn't download anything, delete anything, etc.
