Hi

I am doing some planning, and I'm wondering for the sake of chat size, should I do ranks? (i.e [Admin]) or colors to represent ranks? Would ranks make it easier, or would colors to represent them be easier? Thanks!

P.S. Post a comment with your personal opinion after you voted if you want!

Level 1 : New System
Hello! I used to be a server owner. What I did was have different colors and prefixes assigned to different ranks.
Ex:
&c[Default]
&a[Builder]
&6[Trusted]
&1[Moderator]
&2[Admin]
&4[Owner]

This worked out very well, the colors would easily identify the rank in the chat at a glance, and new players could look at the prefixes for elaboration. On the current server I moderate, there are only colors. This can be confusing to new players at first, but is a good system to reduce clutter in the chat if prefixes aren't needed. If you do take this route, make sure to post up what the ranks are somewhere!
Good luck man!

Well, the way we do it on my server is that we have ranks and "titles" in our names. It does make chat long for my name, "ADMIN - MBV - etc..." but with colors you're not sure who is the admin, who is the mod etc.. It helps with people not only respecting your power but also with console overview. (Usually colors don't appear in your server.log).
