Hi! I have a problem that I can't figure out. So, when I try to load my game, I open the Minecraft launcher and press play as usual. But, when the big red Mojang screen pops up, the loading bar goes about 5/6 of the way and then freezes. I've tried waiting it out but to no avail. So, I went online and looked up many solutions, one of which was to open the Launcher using "compatibility mode" which opened the old launcher in Windows Vista. Doing this reset all of my versions (it kept the folders that were in .minecraft, I just had to re-select the version I wanted to load) and it worked once and let my game completely load, but following the tutorial I X-ed out of the game and changed the compatibility mode back to its original setting. I think it was supposed to force my launcher to update and fix the issue. Instead, it went back to not fully loading. So, I decided I would just keep loading it in Windows Vista mode because that worked the first time. Now it doesn't work at all and I'm still having the same problem. I've tried running a Malware detector, changing the versions from Optifine for Java version 1.16.2, which had been working fine a couple days ago, to the latest release of 1.16.3, but nothing is working. I was going to attach a picture of what the loading screen looks like for me but clearly it's not a lot of help and I can't seem to find an "attach file here" button. If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know. Thank you!

Which malware detector did you use? The issue of the game locking up on the loading screen is nearly always caused by malware. Run a scan with ADWCleaner and see if that helps.
I just used the standard malware detector on my computer. It didn’t come up with anything but I’ll try the one you provided and get back to you soon!
Update: that seemed to work! My game still takes a while to load so I thought it didn't fix at first but I think that's just my computer's specs haha. Thank you for the help<3
