EDIT: I solved the puzzle finally. I did have everything setup right -- it was apparently user error. In order to get the list of homes from typing /home or /homes, you have to have already set more than one home. Boy, do I feel like a dullard. :/
Okay, I discovered a few things two day ago that I can't seem to deal with, and all the googling in the world is not turning up the answers I seek. The documentation I've found isn't extensive enough or something.
This is all in relation to the /home and /homes commands. I noticed that I, the server operator and owner, have access to a command "/homes" that lists the homes that I have access to. However, I can't seem to figure out the specific permission node that gave this command to me in order to give my players.
Additionally, I can't figure out how to actually port to one of said listed homes. I am using Essentials with GroupManager. Running the latest RB for Bukkit on a 1.5.1 server. I have given out the following permissions to my groups with NO luck:
- 'essentials.home'
- 'essentials.home.bed'
- 'essentials.homes' # I can't even tell if this is a real permission, it does nothing!
- 'essentials.sethome'
- 'essentials.sethome.multiple'
- 'essentials.sethome.multiple.<groupname>' # groupname as defined in the Essentials config.yml
- 'essentials.delhome'
Those should be all the permissions I need, right? Or am I missing something? I've scoured the Bukkit and Essentials permissions lists about 20 times or more in the last two days. Nothing I've come across has helped.
Here's the entire plugin list for my server, in case there might be a conflict I'm missing (all are latest versions):

Dynmap
EasyTxCommands
Essentials
GroupManager
MasterPromote
Multiverse (Core, Portals)
Residence + ResidenceSigns
