I am getting major lag on SSP and SMP stuff in Minecraft. On a gaming PC aswell!

Some things you might want to do are checking for any driver updates you may have. Scan for virus's and such. Clean stuff like your registry, cookies, and temporary files. Make sure components like video card, ram, CPU, CPU cooler, hard drive, power connections, are properly installed. If your computer is dusty, clean it so it can stay cool.
Go to your options and set fog or render distance to tiny. Set graphics to fast, brightness wherever, and particles minimal
Pep, overclocking is an art that, if not done properly, can completely destroy your computer. It's best to leave it to professionals/people who actually know how to do it.
Maybe you should do some overclocking?
You cant overclock your CPU since its a 3770 but you could try overclocking the ram and video card. And just read up or watch a video on it and you will know enough to do it yourself. I find its very easy now that I did it.
I know you cant overclock a 3770 but he might just of forgot to put the k at the end

Interesting... Try getting optifine, improves your fps a lot. Also, the SMP stuff could be server-side, not your fault.
