Make logs stop rotating

I'm trying to make a resource pack, and I want logs to stay rotated vertically. For example, it would go from this,





to this:





Does anybody know how I can do that? I'm okay with using Optifine to render blocks differently than normal.

Edit: in case you're wondering, this resource pack is for 1.12.2
