Hello planet Minecraft Forums

Servers are a form of development that i have never truly considered until now.
I have turned to this form of development after I realized that my project was too much for one person to do. I have Acquired something of a team to develop my Very large map but i haven't the first clue on how to set up a server and my team has no clue either.

Iv looked at the tutorials but haven't had much luck. My unfamiliarity with the process has also made me a bit nervous about making a server because i hear that i can really open myself up if i make mistakes.

So I am turning to the Forums for help. Please will someone help me make a development server for My recreation of north America. http://www.planetminecraft.com/project/ ... h-america/

Its a very large map and i need to effectively host the whole thing so we can do the finish work. I can then release it in a timely manner. If someone steps forward to help, my team and I will be eternally grateful. Thank you

Sounds like you could create your own minecraft server out of your house and I put together a video tutorial of how to do this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Szgfvirl38

The most difficult part if port forwarding and I go over that a bit in the video but you can get detailed steps from portforward.com

Actually, you can skip the bukkit part. Download minecraft_server.exe setup your port forward, run the exe on the server you want it on, give out your public IP to your builders and viola!
