Hi, I am 34486 not a buddy of mine 34486SCI heh.
I have noticed this with 2 worlds and get the exact same error EACH TIME! Its getting annoying.
An error occurred while opening D:/Servers/HHSDepleted/world/level.dat

64bit Mcedit2 2.0.0-beta7 I have tried another version, I forget which one and gave me the same error! What could this be from? I was able to load a factions world, but not my vanilla or depleted world? Whats the deal with this? I hope I get emails about this because I might forget of my issue...
Thanks!

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling?
If so, then all I can advice at the very least is use WorldEdit to save all of your most important buildings, then recreate the world.
Also, seed?

Yes, I have uninstalled and installed mcedit. I have tried 3 different versions so far. I can't exactly recreate the world since its a never-reset world, one of my first from 2010. I just need to make paste a schematic, and the server and world edit won't work, i was able to save a schem file. I would also be able to paste it far more accurately with mcedit.
What version of Minecraft did you use to open those worlds, and did you also make sure to select that version while opening the world (the 'Version' option at the top of the open dialog)?
It could be caused by using the wrong version, so that MCEdit can't fully process the world.

The world is 1.12.2 and I opend it with the 1.12.2 version in the options. I had no luck there. :/
And the world does open normally within Minecraft? If it's a regular non-modded world I'm almost tempted to blame file corruption but that seems a bit odd.
This is a long shot: try copying the whole folder to a new one. So basically: control-c and control-v within the %appdata%\.minecraft\saves folder. Then try to use MCEdit on the new copy. That will probably also fail but...
Also: do you get the same results if you try to view the world? So instead of edit click 'view'?

When I go to click "open" I have no real view, BUT, If i copy it (Which I can't, the world is on a 1 tb hdd an the world is 36 GB) and I have a 120 gb ssd and am unable to make space, I can make minecraft direct to that world.
The word does open and play nice in game. Yes I had the server stopped when trying to open the world.
I will direct the minecraft location to a copy of the world on an external hdd, load it, then try to use MCedit, I doubt it will work though.
EDIT: I loaded the world in singleplayer, tried mcedit, no luck. I made another world in that exact same directory and Mcedit was able to reconize and open it. Not sure what the deal is. Possible a conversion fail early on with old->avnil? I'll test this.
EDIT2: Made an old world, Beta 1.4 went right to 1.8 then to 1.10 then to 1.12.2, which is essentially what the server world experienced, I was able to view and open the test world.
I dont get why i can't open the regular, I will regenerate the level.dat, I have several backups. I believe that is the issue, I will guess its not, so guessing its not it might be? hmm
Edit 3: Jeez, I did that and Mcedit won't even respond right when I open.
Edit 4: Ok I changed the directory, manually go to open world with the new level.dat and it goes to open, but stops responding on 87% "Loading Overworld Dimension" Ugh. In the console, no errors are thrown. :(
Edit 5: I can't even open the end or nether worlds... Ugh. I even tried McEdit unified, crashed too.
