Minecraft Account Stolen

It's been awhile since I have played minecraft, but I recently decided to log in and see what all changed. I tried to login with both my account name, and email. It said invalid password on both (tried every password I could think of), so I sent the email of "I forgot my password", both on minecraft.net, and from the launcher. I never got any emails. I went to make a new minecraft account, to see if my email was taken as some games will alert you if it has. Everything went through okay (I didn't complete process, only the register part), and I could play the demo version. Obviously I have had minecraft for awhile based on my history of things I've posted here.

I looked up my name as I remember there was a site that showed your skins, and this is what I found.

I looked through my emails, and found on August 13, I got this email.

Hi,

We’ve just migrated your Minecraft account into a Mojang account. If you requested this, well done! You don’t need to do anything else.

However, if you didn’t request this change, there may be issues with the security of your account. We recommend you get in contact with Mojang support at http://help.mojang.com/

Thanks!
Your friends at Mojang

This was the same day that the first name changed happened. I'm unsure what to do, or what option to go with mojang, since whenever I brought minecraft was about 7 or 8 years ago. So I'm not sure where to find the transaction receipt that they ask for.

Thanks I managed to get the account back. I had an origin account stolen (well they didn't steal it, they just played games on it, but I recovered that quickly). Motive wise could've been the password was old, or the fact it wasn't mitigated so it was an opportunity for an easy steal due to one of those. Not too worried about finding out who it was since I got it back and secured.

Did you have an interesting name or minecon cape? I'm looking for motives as to why someone might steal it. Unfortunately I've seen my share of account-thieves.

I would suggest the same things as the other posters here. Contacting Mojang is the best option, maybe they could find evidence that you're the original owner of the account in question.

It is their responsibility to try to return stolen accounts to the original users.
and I would try to find the transaction receipts if I were in your situation, word search them in your email, they're important, because they hold easily identifiable information that you were the person who originally owned the account. I always keep at least a few of mine just in case I end up in the same situation.

Also as a general rule, make sure you use a secure password if you ever get your Minecraft account back, that includes mixing high and lower case letters, numbers and perhaps symbols, and never use the same password you use for one site for the other, especially on something you make financial transactions on. And being careful with links you use helps too.

Contact them. People have had similar cases. Famous YouTubers, normal people etc. This has happened so many times with them its probably not a problem so just contact support here is a link to help you: https://help.mojang.com/customer/portal/emails/new

Your best bet is to just contact them and give them all the relevant information you have. No one else here can help you.
