I know that this may be a hassle, but try re installing minecraft, and if that doesn't work, reinstall Java.
Cheers.
Cheers.
How will that help?
You can't just say "reinstall minecraft" is the solution to every mc problem.
You can't just say "reinstall minecraft" is the solution to every mc problem.
I think they may have discontinued that version, so old that its TOO out of date it wont run
Idiot, if that's the answer then why am I playing the first version of MC right now? I remember Beta 1.7.3 never crashed like that

Well, old beta and alpha versions tend to have many bugs.
That's all I know.
Beta 1.7.3 is actually very stable.
