Minecraft Crashes After About 15 Minutes

Hi guys, I've had this problem for a while now and it's really starting to get on my nerves. Almost every time I play minecraft it works o.k. for 10 - 20 min but then it freezes and nothing responds except the start button on my keyboard. This releases my mouse and lets me either log off or shut down (these are the only two things that respond)
So normally I'll either shut down using the power button and then turn it back on, or click log off, wait 5 minutes for it to work (close minecraft) and then click cancel so it doesn't actually log me off.

I have a few mods installed but these don't affect it because it happens with or without them. I need a solution but I can't afford to buy fancy graphics cards of drivers or whatever.

Can someone give me a good, simple, cheap solution while I save up for a better laptop?

Thanks!

I'm gonna assume your computer is overheating. Since it seems you've already tried to allocate more RAM and hasn't worked, I'd guess your computer is low on RAM. Now I know you can't exactly afford much but if I were you I'd try to get my hands on more RAM or a new computer altogether.

I;m saving up to get a new computer but it might take a while. I'll just have to put up with it 'till then.

Thanks anyway (To everyone who's posted)

Yeah, same thing happens. I'm not really sure how to update my drivers but if it costs money I really can't afford it. (I know I seem stingy but I actually CAN'T afford it, not won't)

try updating the drivers for your speekers possible that they can't handle sertain sounds that minecraft uses, if that's the case updating will help a bit but won't solve it completely, do you get the same problem when you use a headset?

another way to make sure minecraft has more ram is deïnstalling old programs and toolbars you don't use anymore, you say it's an old laptop, i guess that through the years some programs you don't use are installed and some of them boot with windows and stay active in the background, you don't see them but they use (a small bit) ram so when you need them they are imediatly avalable, also check you pc for malware and virusses, if your pc is infected and part of a bot net (uses a bit of ram off all computers in the net to do complicated stuff that requires alot of ram) it could also slow you pc down sure if it is an older one with not to much ram to spare

Your computer could be overheating. Try setting render down, or give your minecraft more RAM to work with.

If you haven't turned all of your graphics settings completely down, do that. Optifine might also help a bit if you don't have it.
