I have got a laptop and with Optifine Ultra or HD it crashes every time I connect to a Multiplayer world or I load up a single player world.
I can use Optifine Light but it still doesn't really help much as It still crashes like every 5 mins and I still only get 5-10 FPS
My specs are:
Windows 7 Home Premium 32-Bit
2GB of DDR2 RAM
Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU T5800 @ 2.00GHz 2.00GHz
SiS Mirage 3 Graphics
Why do I crash a lot (With Optifine and without) and only get 5-10 FPS

PPS: When I say Minecraft crashes I mean THE WHOLE LAPTOP CRASHES and I have to force turn it off by holding down the power button

Two other things:
1) I have DirectX 11
2) I have thought about putting more RAM into my laptop b4 but I googled it and it turned out that the crap Novatech laptop I have was supplied with its maxmium amount of RAM (2GB)

Does a screen pop up saying that Java SE binary has stopped responding or working?
If so, you need to uninstall Java and Install the new latest version. It happened to my old computer

The 480m's a good processor. My laptop (which is having problems with the power supply and is unusable -- my fault (I dropped it :/)) has an i5-480m and 6 GB of RAM, but has integrated graphics, and it runs between 10 and probably around 50 or 60 FPS (mostly below 35).
That computer in the OP is old, but it should run Minecraft at around the FPS amount specified, although it *should* be higher. Try deleting stuff off of the hard drive you don't use, run the free version of Malwarebytes or Microsoft Security Essentials and remove the PUPs (potentially unwanted programs), spyware, etc. that it detects, and maybe get some more RAM if you think you might need it; 4 GB should be plenty.
If you could post your DXDiag stuff here that could help, too.
If you don't know how to get that, hit the Start orb and type "dxdiag" in the search bar and hit enter. It'll ask if you want to see if your drivers are digitally assigned or something, and click "Yes" or "OK." Tell us what's listed under "DirectX Version" and, in the Display tab, the Approx. Total Memory.
EDIT: Like the guy above me said, reinstalling/updating Java would be a good idea, preferably getting Java 7 if you don't have it already.

Hey, I had the same problem with my Minecraft game recently.
The problem isn't in your Minecraft or Optifine. It comes from Java.
If Java isn't installed properly (which happens) your java applications will crash.
To fix it reinstall Java. IF you have the same problem try with older Java updates, they are on their site.
Another reason might be some plugins that interfere with java like the TS3 Overlay plugin, Overwolf Overlay etc. It's rare but happens. Have a nice day
