Every time I launch minecraft on my mac the green bar loads all the way to launch, but as soon as it launch, it goes straight to the error message. The message just says something unexpected happened. We've updates the OS, linked the java executable like we've seen in potential fix videos for this. Although we've done all that it still crashes immediately. We've deleted it and redownloaded it multiple times, but still there is no fix. I just hope someone knows whats wrong, because I can't tell.

have you tried posting the crashlog?
I grew up on windows so I'm helping my friend on his mac, therefor I have no clue how to access those files. Do you have a link for something that could show me?
