MineCraft Lag Help Please
I know many others have had lag troubles but I can not solve my problem. I am on a new windows 8 laptop. it has 4gb of RAM and 500gb of hardrive space. My fps in Minecraft usually is between 5 and 15. I have optifine. I have tried giving Minecraft more and less memory. I tried RAMdisk but I think I did something wrong when I tried it but I want to use something else that does not mess with my computer drives. I turn all my graphics on the fastest and I have the default Texture Pack. Please Help I feel hopeless sometimes.

Weird fix I found was reinstalling Windows except my problem was that minecraft would literally crash on mojang startup due to an unfixable bug in the Toshiba version of Windows, odd.
I actually have done a memory wipe or system restart whatever it is called. Thanks though
Your specs don't look too bad actually.
Well, if you updated java and it still isn't working properly, then i'm out of ideas.
Sorry man, Hope someone else can help you D:

I just reinstalled Java yesterday because I messed something up. Thanks though.

Edited my last post too. Might want to look at that.
Also @DarkFadeLink
Windows 8 is (Imo) stronger for gaming.
Windows 7 was great and Windows 8 has it's bugs, but you cannot say that Windows 8 isn't for gaming.
I run windows 8 and minecraft runs at 400fps for me on fancy.

Minecraft is not for windows 8. you should have gotten windows 7 unless the windows 8 computer was for gaming. I recommend to return the computer and get a windows 7. Worked for me
I got it during the summer and I am pretty sure the warranty ran out. Thanks though.
KunatyComputer Geek here..
Turn down your rendering to Tiny.
Graphics to Fast.
From Balanced performance to "Max FPS"
On optifine, turn down all values to off/Fastest.
Turn off all animations.
Use Magiclauncher, in the advanced settings area, give your computer AT MOST 1.5 GBs of memory.
Before doing any of this, delete your entire minecraft folder and reinstall it.
Done all that except magic launcher but I gave Minecraft memory in the default launcher. Well actually I leave the dripping water/water and inmated flame.Thanks.

EDIT:
Update your java.
After updating, open up task manager, (right click the little bar at the bottom and click it in the little submenu).
Click on the "Details" tab.
Find the one that says "Java(something)" and right click it.
Set it to "high priority"
