Hello, I have just set up a 1.10 server for my friend and I to play on and I was playing on the version 1.10 for a little more than a few hours. I got off of Minecraft and tried getting on 1.8 so I can PvP on some other servers for a bit. I tried launching Minecraft and it would load every thing up, but instead of opening Minecraft with the Mojang screen, nothing happened and the 'Play' button appeared again. I tried this on many version such as forge, labymod, optifine and vanilla. I tried hopping on to 1.10 again and it worked. Can anybody help me out, please and thank you! If you need logs I can update it with them.

You need to press WINDOWS KEY + R And then type %appdata%
See the .minecraft folder?
Move it somewhere and then install 1.8 again then Quit minecraft
Go to the moved .minecraft folder and copy the servers.dat file to the new folder

you'll have to change your game directories to play on older versions of minecraft
Can you tell me how? I have never had to do that and I have no clue how to do so.
IDK what is happening, but you could try reinstalling versions, or the launcher
