Minecraft not working.

minecraft is not working.
i click "force update" and it says downloading packages, and has been sitting there for 30 min now.
PLS HELP

Is your minecraft.jar modded? if so, it requires a fresh minecraft.jar. Hope this helps.

Delete everything but saves (wich are your saved worlds) or texturepacks in your .minecraft folder, then force update.
