Can someone help me I am trying to host a modded server for java but when I port forward it only my local ip works and not my public ip making it so that my friends cant join the server is fabric 1.18 modded

Have you allowed port through firewall?
For the public IP to work, you have to have a static IP address. I'm not fully sure how to check if you have a static IP, and Googling it doesn't yield the results I need. I'd recommend reaching out to your ISP(internet service provider) and asking if you have a static IP. If they say you don't, tell me, and I still might be able to help.
