Minecraft Single Player Lag! HELP!

Help! My Minecraft single player is lagging really bad! It doesn't have anything to do with my FPS. It's almost as if a server is crashing, but in single player! Please help!

Maybe there's lots of entities that are loaded in but you just aren't near them so it's not effecting your fps. Have you tried different single player worlds?
It's also possible that it's your hard drive doing something.
