MineCraft When Adding More GB's Wont Start 1.8
Hello PlanetMinecraft Community,
I have resently added more Virtual ram to my pc to help with gaming but I cant seem to get passed 1GB mark. I get a blank screen then the minecraft console, it presents to me a error I have never had before witch I have never tried increasing the gb before but a friend has added more virtual ram and it allowed him to add more than 1GB, I added atlest 50GB of virtual ram and it wont even let me add 2GB to minecraft. Open spoiler to see error.
Best Regards, zombieslayer4324

First of all, you can't allocate much more than a gig of RAM to a 32-bit Java instance.
Second of all, adding more than 1 GB of RAM will not improve your game's performance (unless you're running a lot of mods).
Third, a larger page file (virtual memory) will also not improve system performance significantly, since the extra "RAM" is insanely slow. Typical RAM (DDR3-1600 MHz) has a data rate of 12.8 GB/s, but your hard drive's transfer speed is less than 150 MB/s. That means your hard drive's transfer speed is typically less than 2% that of your RAM.
Fourth, if you do upgrade to a 64-bit OS/64-bit Java combo, allocating all 2 GB of your RAM to Minecraft will actually slow your computer down, since Java has taken the memory the rest of the system needs to operate.

Not to burst anyone's bubble but this post wasn't to argue over something like a game
And I think updating to 64 bit may also help with my situation

Sorry man, I may have gone a little too hard. But there's just not a whole lot I can think of that you can do without an upgrade. I mean there's a few things you can do to help a little bit IE. Optifine (sometimes), and allocating more RAM (sometimes), but you'd probably still be lucky to break 20 FPS on the absolute lowest settings.
I am using optifine, and I break more than 20 fps depending on server.
The ram I have without virtual is 2GB, I would buy a better computer if I could afford it. And I don't know why it wouldn't be detecting the virtual ram because I restarted the computer after I set it.
Not to be a noob in explaining but I know the difference... and my hard drive says I have 250 GB witch is a type of space. I went to transfer some of that space into virtual ram, I put in 50 GB worth or virtual ram in the section.
How much RAM do you have without virtual RAM?
Also, according to the error you posted, Java isn't even finding 2GB of RAM. I assume that's because it's not detecting your virutal RAM. My suggestion? Get a better computer

God, I hate when people say that.
"I can't answer you're question, so you should just go out and use up all your money on a computer".

I'm assuming he has 1GB of RAM (since java can't find two gigs of RAM). Even if he has some amazing processor, there's just no way he can run Minecraft decently without an upgrade.
*facepalm* Ok, I'll try and help you out here. 1) 50GB of RAM is a TON! I don't think they even sell computers with that much... Ram isn't everything. 2) That being said, I'd assume that has something to with why it's not working. 3) Virtual RAM is a lot slower than actual RAM. I doubt you'd even get a performance boost in Minecraft with another GB of virtual ram.
